I had some 2x4s lying around, so I decided to rip some down and make another flag. I decided to do an American flag, but add a Marine symbol to it. I wood burned the symbol by hand, and also carved the stars out by hand. I then took a torch, and burned the wood to faid into the symbol. Over all I am pleased with the way it turned out.

  • Did you do the marine burn pattern with a stencil or by hand? looks great!
    By MAC3, on December 6, 2016
    • Thanks!..I Googled an image, and carbon papered it on. Since I made this flag, I've had so many requests. Being that it takes so long to hand wood burn them, I'm actually having a pattern plasma cut out of steel this week. That way I can just lay the steel pattern down, and hit it with the torch, to save tons of time instead of hand burning it.

  • Your work is beautiful. I make wooden beer totes for marines and hand paint them with the USMC or the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor image. I love the wood burning technique used on your project. Have you thought about putting a video on YouTube on how you burn in your patterns? I would love learn this technique. I want a torch now! SEMPER FI! Krista

    • I had someone plasma cut the marine logo out of steel for me. I tried it out yesterday and it worked. All I have to do now, is lay the steel pattern down, and torch it on. This saved me tons and tons of time. I actually made 3 of these flags yesterday. When you torch the pattern on, you have to make sure the pattern lays flat on your piece. Otherwise the flame may go under the pattern, and wont be a crisp line. The first one ^ I just traced the logo on with carbon paper and used a regular wood burner, which took a lot more time to do. As for a video, I dont have much time these days to edit one. :/

  • Would you be able to get a steel Amvets stencil cut? Or tell me where we could go to get one ourselves?
    Thanks

    • The guy who use to plasma cut things for me, ended up selling his cutter.  :/  I only have connections to a laser cutter now, for leather, plastics, thin woods, foam etc.

  • Hi, I would like to order one of these for my dad's birthday on the last day of this month.  Can you let me know how to go about getting one ordered?

    • I've been working a lot lately, not sure if I'd be able to get to it by the end of this month.  :/
By fEzZ, on June 14, 2018
    • Ok, no problem.  I would like to still order one for when you do get to it- I can give to him for the next big holiday or whenever, so no rush but I definitely would like to get one ordered.  Do you have an Etsy page or website or something easier to place an order on? How much did you say it was again? Just let me know when I can order and how to go about this.  I love your work. Thanks so much!

    By Tinez13o5, on November 11, 2018
    • Unfortunately I'm booked up until the new year. The next size up would be a 3'x5', those run $295 not including shipping.

  • Hi again! Just wondering if you would have one of these available for Father's Day? On average how much is it to ship one of these say to West Virginia or Georgia? Do you have an Etsy page? I really really would like to order one of these.
