This is a project I have schemed on for a long time! I have wanted to make a bed with storage for wine, but I wanted it to be specific for wine bottles instead of a bed that can store anything. The idea was there but the design eluded me, then I thought of this design and I was determined to make it happen. I wanted to use repurposed materials, so I used antique fence pickets for the inserts, selecting each one based on the wood grain then finishing and staining them. I really earned my stripes with my Ryobi biscuit joiner with this project. I built the bed rails from common boards and #20 biscuits, then reinforced them and added cradles for the bottles of wine. Each bed rail is basically a cabinet with six cradles for wine bottles. Last I fabricated bad rails and stained them to match. I grew a lot as a carpenter with this project, thanks largely in part to my trusty Ryobi tools.
