This mahogany side table was an example piece for my woodworking students. It has 3 coats of a simple oil based finnish thinned to an olive oil consistancy and applied by hand. Once dry the finnish is wet sanded with 400 grit and finely one coat of spray finnish to bring out the shine. My students lived the project and are looking forward to starting theirs.
