I wanted to try something totally different this time. So I decided to make a rustic flag using all leather. I cut out all of my pieces from different colors of leather. I then torched my pieces to give it a nice weathered and rustic look. Then I used my Ryobi hot glue gun, and glued it to a piece of plywood that I painted black, incase there were cracks between the leather. Overall I am very pleased with the look of it. This is probably my favorite, and is going on my wall. :)

  • I like! How did you do the star part?
    By barry.mattson2, on December 12, 2017
    • Thank you!...That was the most time consuming part of the whole build. I used an exacto knife and cut my field pattern out of dark brown leather, and then I cut 50 stars out of light tan leather, then assembled it as if it were a puzzle. Once you have all your pieces for the flag cut out, it all goes together quite quickly.

  • I love this! I haven’t worked with leather before. I am considering it now after seeing this!

    • You just have to watch, that while you're torching the leather to give it a more rustic look. To not heat it too much, or it will shrivel up some.
