Initially these were all going to be floating shelves, however once I started putting heavy books on them and considering they are above my stairs I didn't want anything to fall off and knock someone out. So I decided instead of putting the brackets below the shelf why not put them on the top for a different style and also extra protection from books toppling over and nick knacks falling off. I used drywall anchors on account only the brackets on the left hit studs (extra security). The single shelf beside the door was an after thought by my wife and on account she liked the other selves so much we decided to set one up there as well. The hooks on the bottom were added to hang the car keys (which I always forget to and she gets on me) and the dog's leases. All together the project costed approximately 45 dollars with the hardware being the most expensive part. The wood has a espresso stain with some sealant sprayed on afterward. Easy and stylish project. Let me know what you think!
