I wanted to make an outdoor planter box for my front steps. I have been intrigued with wood quilt designs so I decided to make one side an American quilt. I altered the Shanty 2 Chic plan so each side was 14" square. I cut sixteen of them to form the sides, joining with a Kreg jig and wood glue. I used 2"x2" corner posts and 1"x4" pressure treated wood.
The overall size is 17" wide x 20" high. I put cleats on the inside and some extra wood slats to rest a large planter on. Red, white and blue was a great choice for the summer holidays.
