I built a two-person desk for our office that is 12 feet long. The desktop has a herringbone design that is broken up in the middle with horizontal/vertical design because I felt 12 feet of herringbone was too much. For the base, I purchased a modular bookshelf system ($100). For the top, I took two old doors that I had from our ongoing home reno, and purchased two sheets of 1/8 plywood ($14), trim ($16), stain ($6), and nails/sandpaper/ect. ($20).
