A friend and neighbor stopped by my garage frequently to see the latest project I was working on. He passed away last week so in his honor I built this small oak keepsake box for his widow. The project features mitered corners and some minor router work for the top and decorative side plates. A rabbet along the bottom of the box pieces allowed for placement of the bottom piece. Instead of the traditional hinged and chained top I opted for a fitted top.
