The idea was to build a wine gift box that was a work of art, using the unique properties of recycled pallet pieces. I cleaned up a pallet and then cut thin cross sections from the stringers. I was able to unearth a great deal of unique and interesting pieces of material this way. I fabricated a simple box out of pine 1x6x8 and reinforced it with wood glue and pocket hole screws. I stained everything in alternating colors base don which colors made the woodgrain really stand out on the individual pieces.
