I found an old headboard and footboard that someone was throwing out at spring cleanup. I brought them home and made a bench out of them. It has 4 1/2 cubic feet of storage, for shoes, coats, toys, ect.

  • OMG, what a great idea!!!!! I love this project!. I think I'll go to the local Goodwill or something and try to find an old frame like that and do a bench for my covered patio! It would be a great place to store BBQ utensils, and Charcoal, or anything else for patio enjoyment. This idea is awesome and you did such a beautiful job!

    • Thank you so much for the compliments. That is exactly what the woman who bought it off of me, is using it for.(covered patio) I lucked out finding the head and footboard for free. But I know Goodwill is a great place to start in finding one. Our local one has 6 to choose from. So I may have to make another here in the future. :)

  • What a beautiful up-cycled project! You really brought out the elegance of these two pieces- an in such a practical design! What method did you use to create that finish?

    • Thanks! I used a black chalk paint, scuffed all the edging, then cleared with a matte finish.

  • The scuffs really make it. And you really can't go wrong with chalk paint- it looks fantastic.
