My first project of the new year! I wanted to make a custom set of tables for my living room with two side tables, a coffee table, a sofa table and a TV stand. I decided to build one prototype first to see if the design I had in mind would work well. I wanted to experiment with burning the material so I practiced on scrap pieces until I learned how to make the desired effect. This is the first piece and it turned out great. I Used douglas fir corned posts and ripped up 2x4's to make a pair of box frames, then cut fence pickets down to length and stained everything in Minwax Gunstock and Early American. When it warms up I will finish it with three coats of high gloss polyurethane.
