Entry storage cubbies

We had this 2 foot deep "dead space" in the entry way. We didn't want a pre-made storage solution so I built this. It's not hard to do but takes time and patience.

  • I like the before and after pics. A complete overhaul of that dead space. The visual presentation of your project posting is also effective and uncumbersome. Looking forward to more DI Y did I try that projects

  • @reynavega @angiejhi Please add me to list for one too. This is a must have

  • Screwdriver Bob - thanks, I didn't like how the standard crown looked, especially so close to the door moulding but I wanted some depth to finish off the top. And mounting crown to one edge would have been tricky. I found a "blockish" baseboard with a thick bottom (which became the top) and it fit in nicely.

  • fascinating. assumed you used same baseboard for top/bottom. now noticing difference. blockish finish has classic look. professional grade and highly detailed work. i agree mounting crown to edge would have been tricky. creative work around

  • I wonder if I can get my bf to build one of these in our mud room. Something like this would be especially nice in winter (particularly THIS winter). Plus, each of our dogs could have their own jacket basket :-)

  • Looks good I would add overhead LED lights to showcase large sectionals
By "Concrete Guy", on January 28, 2016

  • I made something similar. It's been an awesome organizational upgrade! Freed up entrance closet space w/o adding front room clutter. Mine is functional. Yours looks WAY nicer. Congrats!! Good project post

  • Thanks @Bkarner, Likewise your coffee table and the detail in the top is insane!
