Talk about using materials that are found around the house. This is a fine example!! I wanted to build an old phone to use as our land line. I used the end of a ballbat for the ear piece, an old doorbell for the top ringer bell, a silver base from a lamp in which I then mounted an old bike horn to use as the mouth piece. I ran the wire for the earpiece, through a piece of rope, to give it the look of the old wiring back in the day. I then took apart an old phone and wired it all up to work just like the old days. You actually use the ear piece as you speak into the horn, and the ringer rings the old doorbell that is mounted ontop. I also wired a keypad inside of the phone. The front door swings open so youre able to dial out...It's a very nice conversation piece.
