I completely removed a rotten 200 sqft deck and replaced it with a 350 sqft composite deck. This was the biggest project I've ever attempted. My wife and I purchased our first home during the winter and once summer hit we realized the poor condition of the deck when my 6 year old daughter broke through a rotten top board.
We poured new footings, built the frame with pressure treated lumber and topped it off with TimberTech decking. I like to work with my hands, but have no experience building something like this. I read the local building codes and studied the IBC documents to make sure I was doing everything correctly. 2.5 months later we have a beautiful and solid deck.
