Great looking rabbit hutch. It looks really well designed and the rabbits look happy. Is there a wired section on the floor where they deposit their waste? Do they always go to the same place? How does the removable tray work?

There is a corner on the floor with wires for the waste. We put an old cookie sheet underneath for collection. Sometimes the rabbits use it. We understand that rabbits can be trained, and hopefully now that we separated them they will do a better job using one location for waste instead of marking the entire hutch. Most of the floor is wood because we wanted it to be gentler on their paws. If I can add a picture, I will show how we did it. Thanks!

I teach a class that uses a novel about rabbits,
Watership Down.
Your hutch reminds me of a scene in the book where wild rabbits perform a "breakout" of some hutch rabbits! Your hutch looks far too well built for you to have to worry about escapees! Very nice looking work.

Our family read Watership Down last year - really enjoyed it! I think any wild rabbits would have a hard time climbing high enough to let our rabbits out. :) Also, the height helps deter predators like coyotes and raccoons.

Great design and concept for happy rabbits leading to a productive garden. Good Job Noah!

We also use a crib mattress for our two medium sized dogs. After the bed frame it had broke the mattress has just been on the floor. Now that I'm actually learning to build things... this is a great project idea! Thanks looks awesome!

Thanks!
It's not too hard of a build, I enjoyed being able to get creative with the look and colors.
