Moving into our first home we wanted to really work on making it ours. I have never done wood working before and the wife wanted a few things for the house and so I bought up some tools and started on some small projects. This was by far the hardest one I've taken on. The reason we chose this is because our dining room is pretty big and we need something to fill in the voids and somewhere to fit all of my wife's grandmothers China. We decided to go with the farm house look, the antique finish was a first for me as well as applying a finish to the whole thing, the floating shelf was also a first and that was a bit harder than I thought but it came together well. This was a long project for me, a lot of putting together, taking apart and putting back together again to get it all right. I hope you all like this project, it's by far my favorite.

  • Such a beautiful turn out! The design, the detail- and that finish! That finish could not be better. Did you use an existing set of plans, or did you design it yourself?

    • Thank you! Well I did use existing idea for this the only difference is I arranged the shelves to our needs. As for the floating shelf, I have a co-worker that shot the idea to me on how he built his.
