My project(s) started when I lost my spare bedroom that was to be our craft/sewing/painting room to a relative that needed a place to stay.
I had this wonderful vision of what my room would look like. But alas, I had to go a different route. I started with my sewing corner (yes it is now a corner) in my family room. I had to be sparing on room because I only had a 6' x 6' space. So, I decided to utilize the wall for a lot of my supplies. I made thread spool holders and they turned out to be pretty handy. I used a small piece of plywood and cut up some slats that I had laying around. I drilled holes about 1" apart and filled them with crafting dowels. Painted with some stuff I had laying around and I like them!
My other dream since retirement has been a beautiful vanity for my bedroom. But when you live on a budget you can't afford something that extravagant and finding one at a second hand store is a joke! So I decided to improvise. I bought a think piece of pine and a couple of sconces and made a vanity table for my wall. It wasn't hard. I just sanded and routered the pine and then attached the sconces. Painted it and refurbished a old chair and mirror and I like this too!
Third project not so special. I have limited space in my secretary that is in my bedroom. So I decided to make my own organizers for paper clips, staples, etc. I saved the same kind of fruit jars until I had six and sanded a piece of the pine I had left over, painted it and hung it in my secretary. This is okay not much to look ay.
