One of our closest friends was having their adventure themed baby shower, so of course I was volunteered to build a display/shelf to hold all the tasty treats! I used a bunch of pine scraps I had laying around and just started building. I started with the bottom piece which was about 40” long and just cut pieces to fit while playing with various angles. I really didn’t measure anything and just used scraps to get the right angles I wanted. Once it was all cut out I sanded it before I assembled (I should have stained before assembling also). I lightly glued and used my 18 gauge nail gun to put it together, which made it super simple! I did have a few nails that shot through or that I didn’t aim correctly, these pulled out easily in the pine, or I just used my file to smooth them out so no one would get snagged. Once the outside was done I used scraps to hold up a board level across to mark the little shelves, cut, glued and nailed into place where I could. I glued and nailed a piece of ¼” ply to the back and used my palm router with a flush trim bit. Lastly was another quick sanding and then stain. Staining was a total pain in the butt with the tight corners and large hands, so I had to use a flathead screwdriver to push the stain into the corners lol. You can’t see it in the pictures, but I did heat up my branding iron and put my mark in the corner. Last but not least was cold beer during clean up!
Hopefully they are able to use this shelf in the baby bedroom, if not it was still a fun build for some amazing people.
Cheers to baby Niem and the new mom and dad!
