    • Not sure what we'll seal it with yet. The wood is pre-treated with water resistant chemicals (not just normal pressure-treating) and so we have to wait a bit for the wood to "season" before stain will take to it. So, we have a little time. Any recommendations?

    • Thanks for the comments folks! Regarding plans: For the basic construction of the deck I used the HomeDepot deck builder website. I didn't follow the plan it gave me exactly, but pretty close. It gave me a conservative estimate on how many posts I needed, and I pretty much followed it. For the pergola and benches, though, I just figured it out as I went. I didn't keep a parts list--raw materials was just about $2,000.
