    • Such a thoughtful and beautiful wedding gift! Great work!
By RYOBI NATION, on September 6, 2018
      • Thank you!  It was a lot of fun to make, and a little bit of a challenge to figure out how to make it a solid piece of furniture out of just pallets.

    • So fun! We know they will have a blast playing with these. How big is each domino? This is a great idea, especially for tailgating or summer yard games.
By RYOBI Nation, on December 3, 2018
      • Each piece is 6 inches wide and 11 inches high and cut from 1/2 plywood.  They have already become popular and I have more orders for sets.  It helps when we have year long summer time in Florida!
        By Robzbrz1992, on December 3, 2018
      • Awesome, thanks for sharing! We can see why they're so popular!

    • Nicely done! How did you attach the letters to the pallet wood? Great job!
By RYOBI Nation, on December 3, 2018
      • The letters are attached with carpet tacks.  We were going to glue them down only, but the individual they were built for liked the look that the racks added to the build.
        By Robzbrz1992, on December 3, 2018
      • Smart thinking! We like the look, too!

    • Nicely done, your lettering and graphics look great!  I've never had much luck routing signs free hand, I'm curious what type of bit you use with your plunge router?
      By grover959, on December 26, 2018 (edited)
      • Sorry it took so long to reply! Thank you for the kind words.  The way I do all my signs starts with paper and pencil.  In this case I stenciled out the font and designs I wanted with an exacting knife and put it to wood with a pencil.  For fonts with sharper edges I outline with a v groove bit (just a cheapo one from amazon) and take down the rest with various sized Diablo flats.
        By Robzbrz1992, on December 29, 2018
      • @Robzbrz1992 Thanks for sharing these details, I appreciate it.  I've used a plunge router with lettered stencils but always chickened out trying to do it freehand.  I'm going to have to give this a try on a future project.  Thanks again.

    • When my father was still alive he use to build all kinds of plant stands, shelves and stuff like that and he loved to do the wood burning style. Brings back a ton of memories. Nice job....
By Siclestix, on January 12, 2019
      • Thank you!  We used to do a lot in this style.  I love the way it turns out, you'll probably be seeing a bit more of it in my projects!

      • Looking forward to it...

    • We absolutely love that you commemorated your Pop's legacy with this beautiful sign! Using tools to build, make, repair, and maintain is a great skill and tradition. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

      • Some of the most used hand tools in my box were passed down through the generations.  I fully intend on keeping that going.  People will always remember you for something, might as well be remembered for the things you've made and the work you've done!

    • Beautiful! The routed lettering is so perfect. Did you use a template or free-hand? We love the finish too! Thank you for sharing!
By RYOBI Nation, on February 8, 2019
      • Thank you for the kind words.  When we do lettering, we generally pick a font off of a computer software, print it out, x-acto, and stencil the letters on.  I then line the lettering, and finish with a router bit that will take down everything in between the line work.

    • Beautiful job and such a creative use of a spool. The grain and holes make a very interesting sign back. Thanks so much for sharing!
By RYOBI Nation, on May 21, 2019
      • Thank you!  We brought out the natural beauty of the wood by first burning it.  WeatherWash stains and finishes was kind enough to send us some Pined stain and varnish to then coat the spool with, giving it its unique finish.

    • Looks fantastic, every last detail! Love seeing the router in action, thanks for sharing!
By RYOBI Nation, on June 13, 2019
      • Thank you.  This was the largest sign we completed to date.  We pride ourselves on doing everything by hand and do not use a CNC or vinyl stickers (or anything of the sort) for our signs.  We love to use the plunge router, it is a beast.  This sign took about 3 hours to carve and clean up, and the router ran endlessly in the 98 degree Florida heat with no issues.  Definitely one of our favorite tools, and one of the best plunge routers we have ever used.
        By Robzbrz1992, on June 14, 2019
      • Awesome. What was the bit you used to make the sign?
        By ottoch10, on June 17, 2019
      • Ottoch10, it was a diablo flat.  We use different sizes depending on the size of the design.
