    • Nice ottoman!

      • Thanks! Just wait until the buffet I'm working on is done.

    • This looks nice! Your instructions make it sound so easy! Did you come up with this design on your own?
By RYOBI NATION, on May 8, 2018
      • It is based off of a few different designs I've seen over the net, but mission furniture is basically the same construction methods. I just made the design to appeal to my tastes and the  dimensions for a comfortable height to prop my feet up on after a long day of working then woodworking.

And it truly is an easy build. I only needed to use my ryobi bts10 table saw drill press and hand drill to do most of the work. Then used  chisels and files to fine tune the  mortise and tenon joints. Glue up is simple and oak dowels are drill through the through tenons for extra support.

    • This is beautiful! Awesome job!

      • Thanks! My wife has been bragging about it at work all week. It was kind of a rush job seeing as I've got behind on her buffet I've been working on. Just waiting on some parts for my ryobi bandsaw so I can get back to work on it.

    • Nicely done, looks great.  Thanks for outlining the steps you took, I'd love to make a few of these for friends using cutoff scraps.

      • Your friends will love them. One thing I would recommend doing that I didn't do, is to use a router and make a juice grove about an inch from the edges. That way the juice from tomatoes and such don't run off onto the counters.

    • Can you lift it though? #worthy #doyouevenlift?
By coybeast, on May 18, 2018
      • At times I can. Not always worthy only when I'm building something for the wife does it seem to wish me to pick it up.

    • Wow, impressive! Was this your first time making a hammer??
By RYOBI NATION, on May 18, 2018
      • Yes this was my first attempt at any tool. Now I have the bug to build as many hand tools as possible.
