Where can I purchase plans?

May be a stupid question, but how (with the grill where it is) do you prevent the cedar from becoming charred over time? Thanks, and by the way, very nicely done :)

Not out all. I been looking for a perfect design for a sound for a charcoal grill and only find plans for profane grills. It's always been my concern with the wood catching fire.
By
Puk73
,
on July 8, 2015
I should have plans up soon. As for the concern over burning or charring the wood I have heard it a lot in the coarse of building haha. I took careful consideration in lining the areas where they would be in close quarters and lined it with 1/16th aluminum stock... not a perfect barrier but has proven to reflect most of the heat.

How did you seal the butcherblock? I would worry it could warp/swell
By
Art Fin
,
on December 4, 2017
I had the same concern but the underlying butcherblock is beech which is pretty hard and 3 coats of sealcoat(shellac) and 4 coats of poly should hold up for some time. I made sure to do every side so moisture couldn't creep in

You do some amazing work. That concrete work on the sink really looks professional. Tell me I'm not the only one that would take weeks to do a project like this. Ok, I would probably be months. Great job!
By
mrpip

on August 9, 2018
It certainly took some time ha. I tend to plan these projects a month out from an event like a birthday so I have to get it done before we have company over. Really puts your nose to the grindstone.

I would love to see how you did that concrete sink! I have been trying to watch videos on how countertops are made. Great work

I had a hard time finding reliable info on the process. Google search 'GFRC from scratch' and that general mix from fishstone is what I used. This was my first go and I would do some things differently but its a learning process.

Oddly enough after living with it for awhile now I agree with you. The wife said it looked a little unfinished.
By

I agree with mrpip. I imagine this took some time to put together. The warmth of the wood is very inviting.

Appreciate the kind words. I actually had to cut every piece from larger tiles so it was a little time consuming.
