    • Getting a head start on Halloween! Looking forward to seeing more of your decor.
By RYOBI Nation, on August 29, 2017

    • Nicely done. Never thought of using pvc for framing. Thanks
      By Barcode57, on August 29, 2017
      • My only advice might be to use a slightly larger diameter PVC for more strength (maybe 1inch)? I had to add some wood blocking to bulk it up a bit.
        By MyMonte94, on August 29, 2017

    • This is great! What did you use to cover and coat the frame?
By JordanH, on October 5, 2017

    • Thanks! The chicken wire frame was covered with a layer of muslin and I used small pieces of wire to attach the cloth. I used a "monster mud" recipe from Pinterest to cover the cloth. The mud consists of 1 part latex paint and 5 parts joint compound (I used lightweight compound). After two layers of mud, the entire piece was painted with masonry waterproofing (dry loc). The last coats consisted of spray paint to give it some depth.

    • This is such a clever idea! Great way to use that space and disguise the gutters!
By RYOBI NATION, on May 21, 2018

    • Nice work.  The wrap around design is really cool and the finish looks great.

      • Thanks! I was shooting for a cedar look without having to spend the extra $$.
        By MyMonte94, on May 31, 2018

    • this is really great. ive never done anything like this and my house is a bilevel so both corners will be a little apart from each other but i really want to try this.  you did a great, great job, I love it.

      • Thank you! Best of luck with your project. I’m finally getting around to finishing the planter for the other side of the garage this weekend.

    • This looks great! We like how you coordinated the stain with your shutters. What stain did you use?

By RYOBI NATION, on June 12, 2018
      • Thanks! I wish I could tell you I planned it that way, but coordination was a happy coincidence. I saw the blue stain at the store and thought it might look good on a project, so I gave it a try.

The bench top is Varathane fast dry in Traditional Cherry and the base is Varathane fast dry Worn Navy.

    • This definitely has a more grown up feel! How does she like it?
By RYOBI NATION, on June 19, 2018
      • She loves it! Her friends tell her she has a princess room. Now if I could just get her to keep it clean!
        By MyMonte94, on June 19, 2018
      • That's awesome! Haha best of luck with that one 😂

    • This looks awesome! I like your version better with the slat sides. What were the colors you used?
By akettler, on June 26, 2018 (edited)

    • I appreciate the complement.Thanks!

All the stains are Varathane from Home Depot. I didn’t see them in the store so I ordered online.

The brown is Kona. From the top down the sides consist of antique white, rustic sage, bleached blue and vintage aqua. I used two coats of the white and bleached blue. The green and aqua were plenty dark with a single coat.

    • Love the color you added on the sides.
By kyleepete, on June 28, 2018
      • Thanks! I would love tfor be able to claim that idea as my own, but this is essentially a carbon copy of what is on the rogue engineer website. Colors and all! Assuming you have cushions the size they used, they have a nice cut list available. I had to go about 7 inches shorter in width and an inch deeper for mine.

    • Wonderful job on this build! We are so impressed that you added a place to hide the cables!!
By RYOBI NATION, on June 28, 2018
      • Thanks. My friend who wanted this piece was considering having me put a full back on, but I thought it took away from the look and to compensate I would need to close in the sides too. I found this to be the easiest option to fit her needs while still keeping the piece “open”.
        By MyMonte94, on June 28, 2018

    • Great idea to hide the cables this way

    • Thanks! It just might be. I didn’t plan on adding to my decor this year, but neighbors kept asking what would be new this year, so I had to come up with something!
