Project Steps

1. Step: 1

   Cut out all material using the Lumber & Sheet Cut Layout Guide.

2. Step: 2

   Take (1) of the gable ends and draw the door and trim. Mark a circle in the center for the door window. Use the diagram for measurements. The 3/8” trim lines are for painting later in the build.Do not cut them out.

3. Step: 3

   Cut out the door window using the 2” hole saw. Then, use a jig saw to carefully cut out the door. Use the rotary tool for sanding and detailing.

4. Step: 4

   Take the other gable end and draw the back window and trim. Refer to the measurements in the diagram.

5. Step: 5

   Drill a 3/8” hole in each of the windowpanes. Use the jig saw to cut out each windowpane. The 3/8” trim lines are for painting later in the build. Do not cut them out. Use the rotary tool for sanding and detailing.

6. Step: 6

   Draw the windows and trim on both side wall pieces. Refer to the diagram for measurements.

7. Step: 7

   Drill a 3/8” hole in each windowpane. Use a jig saw to cut out the windowpanes.

8. Step: 8

   Align the door piece to the door opening. Make sure it is even with the bottom edge and has equal spacing around the door. Glue (2) pieces of canvas duct to the door and the wall to act as hinges.

9. Step: 9

   Align the front gable end and one of the side walls together. Attach using 3/4" brad nails.

10. Step: 10

    Repeat Step 9 with the other side wall.

11. Step: 11

    Repeat Step 9 with the other back wall.

12. Step: 12

    Set the walls on top of the 12” x 17” base board. Center the house so there is a 1” offset around all (4) walls. Use a hot glue gun and place a bead of glue around the inside bottom edge of each wall.

13. Step: 13

    Use the miter saw to cut the cabinet trim moulding to 16” pieces. Alternate the cuts between scallops to give variety to the roof design.

14. Step: 14

    The roof pieces will have a 1/2" overhang on each side. The underside of the top piece will be even with the peak. Align the first piece with both peaks. Add the next piece under the top piece. Glue the underlapping portion together. Only glue the roof pieces to each other. Do not glue to gable ends.

15. Step: 15

    Continue to add roof pieces and glue the underlapping pieces together. Adjust the spacing to fit the length of the roof slope. Alternate pieces to create a design in the roof. After all pieces are connected, realign to the peak and 1/2" offset on each side. Glue roof to the gable slope.

16. Step: 16

    Repeat Steps 14 & 15 to the opposite side of the roof.

17. Step: 17

    Add the 1/2" x 16” dowel to the ridge.

18. Step: 18

    Measure the length of the roof slope. Use a speed square to determine the angle of the cut. Use the miter saw to cut trim moulding pieces.

19. Step: 19

    Place pieces cut in Step 18 on the front of the house as shown in the diagram.

20. Step: 20

    Paint and decorate as your desire. Project complete!
