Assemble your piping as shown in the picture. I like to assemble it before painting because sometimes getting paint in the threads of the pipe can make it difficult to screw on properly. You will be attaching a 90 degree elbow to each end of your 24” pipe. Then on the other end of the elbow attach your threaded close nipple to allow the flanges to be attached. Next attach the floor flanges. Paint this and allow to dry while working on the remainder of the project.
Using a table saw (or circular saw with a fence) cut the plywood to accommodate your poster. Mine is about 22 1/4” wide and 34” long. I wanted to have a perimeter of wood showing around the poster, be sure and measure your poster to make sure you cut your plywood the correct size to allow for the perimeter around the poster. I left the width of my plywood as is at 24” because it already has the nice straight edges. Then I just measured those perimeters to determine the length I needed my plywood.
Drill the two holes in the top of the plywood that will allow the board to hang from the S Hooks you have purchased. Make sure you use a drill bit large enough to accommodate the hook.
Sand the plywood on all sides and edges with the orbital sander, making sure to smooth out where we drilled the holes. Clean up any dust on your plywood and stain the outside edges where it will be seen.
Attach your poster or picture centered on the plywood. You can either attach with thumb tacks or use mod podge for a permanent solution.
Attach the piping to the wall using a drill. Use drywall anchors if you are not drilling directly into a stud. The piping is heavy and will need those anchors!
Using the S Hooks hang the plywood onto the pipe and enjoy your new picture display!
